About a week ago on Instagram, I asked you all to send me recommendations on the kind of blog posts you wanted to see in the next month or so. One of the suggestions I got had to do with what to expect when planning a wedding. I figured that not only would this be a great way for me to round up all of the wedding planning posts I've done over the course of our engagement but also be a great way to share with Y'all the different phases of wedding planning.Read More
Wow guys, here it is! What might be the last wedding post I ever right (unless there is something more wedding related you want to see). I have loved doing #WeddingWeek here with you guys and sharing all our amazing pictures, wedding decorations, and more! I think you guys have enjoyed it almost as much as me, if not more!
To wrap up #WeddingWeek I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that went wrong and some of my favorite moment of our wedding day! I have been dying to share this post with Y'all literally since the wedding day happened becuase there were some moments that were just TOO funny.Read More
We interrupt the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts to continue Wedding Week! I know half of you are probably thinking, "THANK GOD!" at this point, amiright? Today is super exciting, for me at least, because I'm recapping all of our wedding ceremony and reception details and including a complete list of every vendor we used so if you're looking to get married at West Point or you live in the Hudson Valley, make sure to check out our amazing vendors!Read More
Let me just preface this post by saying that I have the best bridesmaids ever. I mean, seriously, they didn't care that it took me forever to decide what I wanted their bridesmaid dresses to look like AND I changed the color scheme probably 5 times before saying, "eh, this will work" and going with mismatched bridesmaids dresses from Adrianna Papell.Read More
My wedding day look was absolutely everything I dreamed it would be. I wanted to look comfortable, myself, and most importantly, beautiful. I was so afraid, given how critical I am of my body, myself in pictures, etc. that I would get our photographs back and absolutely hate the way I looked but I'm happy to report that's not the case! Liza, our wonderful photographer has a way of capturing such natural beauty. I have never looked at one of the pictures she's taken of me and thought I looked bad. That's an art form, in my opinion.Read More
I cannot believe we are sharing out wedding video with y’all today! I actually posted this a few days ago but I am officially kicking off wedding week here on the blog and I thought what better way to start it then with a bang, amiright? Our wedding was everything I have always dreamed of and SO much more and I’m so excited to share the rest of the details, the mishaps, and some of our favorite moments with y’all.Read More
Something I get asked a lot as our engagement has progressed is "how are you preparing yourself for marriage?" To be honest, the thought never really crossed my mind in my single years, like it probably should have, but as our wedding date has drawn closer and closer, I've noticed that I've been focusing a lot more on not only preparing myself for marriage but for a military marriage as well.
Holy guacamole. There are currently 34 days until I get to marry the one. What the crap. When I started these wedding planning updates we still had ten months to go!!! Don't even bother me if I'm starting to freak out because the answer is yes. Mostly in an excited way though. Today when I sat down to write this (literally an hour prior to when it needed to be published... oops) I have such a sense of calm that is washing over me.Read More
Justin and I had been online acquaintances for I would say three or four months that first day I drove to Grant Turnaround at the United States Military Academy to pick him up one evening. It was a drab, March evening and I was really anxious. It was a Friday and I had just sped home from work and back to change my clothes for our "date". I say "date" because I honestly had no idea at the time whether or not it was a date. Meeting up with someone I had met online, let alone a guy isn't something I had ever done before. I remember my heart pounding as I pulled into the turnaround, nothing but granite and concrete and gray surrounding me.Read More
Ah, wedding traditions. From white dresses to bridesmaid protocol, weddings are steeped in tradition. While some wedding traditions are alright, other wedding traditions can leave us questioning, "why is that a thing?". Even if you consider yourself a more traditional bride I'm betting there's at least one thing on this list we can all get behind ditching as a wedding tradition in 2018.Read More
You know what's scary? Looking back on last month's wedding planning update and thinking that 91 days was still a lot of time. Now we're down to the 60 mark and I'm beginning to panic. Not about the marriage part of course, just about the length of my to-do list in the next 60 days.Read More
You guys! How crazy is it that my Bachelorette Party has already come and gone? I'm freaking out that we now have less than 70 days until our wedding! I had so much fun this past weekend at my Nashville Bachelorette Party Weekend! I seriously have the best bridesmaids in the entire world because they all went above and beyond to make sure I had a good time. We had so much fun visiting Nashville so I hope you're ready for a ton of great Nashville themed content!Read More
Y'all I'm going to be completely honest, I am struggling this week. I don't know if it's just the fact that winter has been hitting us hard without any end in sight or I'm just in a place of burn out but writing anything for the blog this week has been a challenge. I apologize in advance that the content this week has been less than stellar, but I have a bunch of posts in the works that I'm really excited about so hopefully things will be better soon. I feel like I've let y'all down and that's the last thing I would want to do!Read More
The way Justin tells it, buying an engagement ring is one of the most stressful moments of his life. That's why I'm so happy to say that he's worked with me on today's post which is all about buying an engagement ring! More specifically, today we're going to be talking all about the lessons we learned when we had to replace my engagement ring after only a year!
Buying an engagement ring is one of those things where when it goes wrong, it seems to go really wrong and that's pretty much what happened to us. Having to replace my engagement ring left me heartbroken and while I ended up getting an "upgrade" it still doesn't take away from the fact that the ring Justin actually proposed with is now basically gone.
If you're planning on buying an engagement ring, definitely don't let the same mistakes we made happen to you! Here's a little advice from both of us on buying and replacing and engagement ring!Read More
When I started doing these wedding updates for our wedding there were 10 months left to go. Here we are, 7 months later, with under 91 days left to go. I know, right? February was probably one of the most fun months of wedding planning we've had so far and also a little stressful.
I feel like that's just the theme of wedding planning. Other than a few snags here and there we really haven't had that stressful of a time. It's weird because I feel like I should be complaining more? Let me know if that makes sense. Maybe that's a topic to dig deeper into in a full blog post or video!Read More
Y'all this week has been a weird one for me. I have had ideas planned for posts this week that both have gone out the window thus far, leaving me scrambling and writing at the last minute. I promise it's all for good reasons, however. Today's spur of the moment post is actually one that I wish I had read when I first got engaged. You can read more about what I think you should do when you first get engaged here but if you're already past that point than put the wedding planning tools down.
Why? Because I'm bringing you the 5 best wedding planning tools that will ABSOLUTELY and without a doubt make your life easier.
When you first get engaged, there is this feeling of complete overwhelm because you are pretty much bombarded with wedding planning tools. I can't tell you the number of things I purchased or signed up for when we first got engaged because I had no idea of what actually would work. Everyone is different so what works for me may not work for you but here are 5 of the wedding planning tools that have become my tried and true over our long engagement.
Now, here are the actual wedding planning tools that will help you plan a stressfree wedding!Read More
I don't know about you but for me, wedding planning can easily become overwhelming. There are tons of resources and tools and books out there that it can be easy to get lost in all of the mess! Not to mention, spend a ton of money on these wedding planning tools that might not even work for you. When I think back to how much money I spent that could have gone to the actual wedding than to wedding planning tools, I cringe a little. Not even going to lie to Y'all.
The thing is, I kept realizing that the wedding planning binders you can buy are seriously overwhelming. I don't know about you, but most of my inspiration was kept somewhere digitally so I didn't need six different pages asking about my inspiration, two whole worksheets about wedding dresses, etc. This DIY wedding planning binder that I'm sharing with y'all today is something I recently made up for myself after I got tired of searching through email after email trying to find something. But I wish it was the wedding planning binder I had been using from the beginning!Read More
Guys I am so excited to bring you today's post! I have kept my early summer wedding inspiration pretty tightly under wraps through the entire planning process. Mostly this is because our wedding wasn't really a pastel garden wedding theme until recently when all of the inspiration pictures finally started to come together. It really all started when we had our custom wedding crest made by an amazing artist on Etsy. Y'all absolutely loved my Winter Bridal Shower Theme mood board so I figured I would do the same and bring to you a bit of a sneak peal look into what I hope our wedding will look like!Read More
Alright, I'm panicking. We've officially reached the 4-month mark and it's all finally starting to hit me. And also, the to-do list keeps growing and growing and growing. To say I'm starting to get overwhelmed would be an understatement.
I'm actually already getting a little sad that these posts are going to be coming to an end soon. There will only be THREE more! Maybe I should transition these into marriage updates once the wedding is done, at least for the first year? Let me know what you guys think about that!
Anyways, I'm going to enjoy these last four months of wedding planning while I've got them but let me tell you this month (particularly last week) got a little crazy with the wedding debacles. I actually told Justin, "I really hope this isn't what the next four months are going to be like!"Read More
First, let me apologize that I did not get a chance to actually shoot my bridal shower outfit. My plan for this post was to actually do a photoshoot for it but I never got a chance to the weekend of my shower and my photographer (aka Justin) was busy literally all weekend and there was no way it was happening. Since I literally spent no time in my bridal shower recap post talking about my outfit, however, I still wanted to bring this post to you guys today!Read More
