Hi, hello. My name is Darrian and if you haven't noticed (but honestly, like, how could you not) I have hips the size of Texas. Thanks, mom. I have always struggled with understanding how to dress my body in a way that flatters my figure the most. These days it seems like all the trends out there are just not something I can ever pull off. I'm going to be honest that I was terrified to try mom jeans on the one hand and on the other hand, I was convinced that the mom jean trend was a trend that just wasn't going to work for me. Boy, was I wrong!

I bought these Topshop Mom Jeans on a total whim because I just love the way mom jeans looked on the bloggers and Instagrammers I had seen rocking them. What was that about mom jeans not being flattering? These aren't your momma's mom jeans, that's for sure, but the tapered leg and high rise give a great nod to the mom jeans of the 80s and 90s.

I love the way these mom jeans hug and accentuate my curves in all the right places. One thing to remember when you're trying to wear mom jeans as a curvy girl is that you might have to search for the perfect pair that will flatter your figure perfectly. I had tried a few different pairs of mom jeans before I found these gems from Topshop. Another key tip if your on the hunt for the perfect pair of mom jeans is to not really pay attention to sizes. I had to size WAY up in these mom jeans in order to get a perfect fit.

I love the way that this Express top (seriously the comfiest thing in the world) and the Target sandals balance out these mom jeans as well. The flutter sleeve of the top also covers more of my arms which I'm always a little self conscious about. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I rocked this outfit in Nashville for a night out and loved it!

Have you ever tried the mom jeans trend? What other trends would you like to see me try? I am making this Trending: thing a new series type of post so if there's a current fashion trend you're interested in seeing, let me know!
